Are you looking for an environmentally friendly camping experience? Do you want to escape the stresses of modern day life and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of an old woodland site? Have you ever been camping and tripped over the next door guy ropes they were so close? At Cynefin you might just have found your next perfect holiday!
Cynefin is our 10 acre smallholding which we manage to preserve the wildlife and the biodiversity. When we bought the property ten years ago it was part of a larger farm and we had to re-register the land and give it a new name. Cynefin is a Welsh word that means 'habitat' or 'wild place' which sort of fits the bill! We also noticed it on a list for 'untranslatable' Welsh words, where it defined the meaning as 'a place where a person or an animal feels it ought to live'. We thought this fitted our dream really well.
We always intend to have only a maximum of 10 tents so you will have plenty of space to explore with total privacy if that is what you want. Our land is tranquil and with its woodland glades, old oak trees, wild meadow areas it is the ideal place for camping. We are surrounded by grazing fields. The sheep next door or the birds singing are probably the only sounds you will hear.
We offer a comfortable off grid camping experience. It's a perfect place for a family camping experience or for couples who want to experience the beauty of nature in natural surroundings. We try very hard to be green and eco-friendly. We are off grid, use only solar lights, compost toilets, our hot showers are powered by LPG (gas) and we fully recycle all our waste and upcycle as much as possible. We have no facilities for emptying chemical toilets so prefer you not to bring them on site please.
We provide some on-site activities such as night nature walks, bat detecting, badger watching, moth trapping as well as campfire cooking for children. We provide all the equipment. A full programme of events will be put on line during May.
We welcome well behaved dogs as long as they bring their well behaved, responsible owners with them. We are surrounded by livestock in our neighbour's fields and so dogs will have to be kept on a lead at all times. Also, dog poo will have to be bagged and picked up and deposited in the bin provided please.
If this type of holiday sounds appealing just bring your torch, sun tan cream, shorts and wellies for an unforgettable experience.
