Are you looking for an environmentally friendly camping experience? Do you want to escape the stresses of modern day life and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of an old woodland site?  Have you ever been camping and tripped over the next door guy ropes they were so close?  At Cynefin you might just have found your next perfect  holiday!

Cynefin is a Welsh word that means 'habitat' or 'wild place' which sort of fits the bill for our 10 acres of wild flower meadow and oak woodlands!  We also noticed it on a list for 'untranslatable' Welsh words, where it defined the meaning as 'a place where a person or an animal feels it ought to live'.  We thought this fitted our dream really well.

Our land is tranquil and with its woodland glades, old oak trees, wild meadow areas it is the ideal place for camping. We are surrounded by grazing fields. The sheep next door or the birds singing are probably the only sounds you will hear. It's a perfect place for a family camping experience or for couples who want to experience the beauty of nature in natural surroundings.

We try very hard to be green and eco-friendly.  We are  off grid,  use only solar lights, compost toilets,  our hot showers are powered by LPG (gas) and  we fully recycle all our waste and upcycle as much as possible.  We are hoping to install a small wind turbine and further solar panels this season.  We have no facilities for emptying chemical toilets so prefer you not to bring them on site please.

We normally provide  some on-site activities such as  night nature walks, bat detecting, badger watching, moth trapping as well as campfire cooking for children. We provide all the equipment.  Hopefully, in  2023 we will be able to restart these activities.

If this type of holiday sounds appealing just bring your torch, sun tan cream, shorts and wellies for an unforgettable experience.

Carmarthenshire is a county of surprises  for many our campers.  Not only do we have some of the best beaches in Wales, we have some of the most beautiful countryside too.  One of  finest beaches is a 7 minute drive away, Cefn Sidan Beach is 8 miles of golden sands with Blue Flag status. We have many castles to explore - Kidwelly, Laugharne and  Carreg Cennen to name some of the best. Cycle tracks, coastal walking paths, in fact Sustrans Cycle Route 4 begins  an easy cycle away then you can be off road cycling along the coast for about 15-20 miles.  Some campers find they don't have to drive far to find something of interest in the local area.  Why not bring your bicycles for a low impact eco friendly day out.  Bike hire is awailable locally if you can't fit all  your bikes on a bike rack Pre-booking needed, see Pembrey Country Park website.
